Food Distribution Continues Despite Challenges Raised by the Pandemic. April 11, 2020

Saturday, April 11, volunteers from our food ministry at Morton Memorial UMC distributed food to more than 150 families on the mountain.  It took organization, planning, masks, gloves, and a system for folks to drive through with as little human contact as possible to keep folks safe.  Some worked to get things ready, some stood at a

distance and prayed, some did the planning to make sure everyone was safe as possible.  Many who received food donated what they could to thank us including one donation that briefly brought work to a halt and several volunteers to tears: wrapped up in a sanitary wet wipe handed to me by an elderly neighbor were coins totaling $2.43.  We were quite moved by her giving us all the cash she had and even more touched that in this time of pandemic when we were having folks drove through, wearing masks and gloves, this recipient neighbor was worried about the safety of our volunteers.  Blessed Easter! Jesus is not in the empty church just as He is not in the empty tomb! He is alive and walking among us.  Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed!
